Hailing from Kyiv, the capital city of Ukraine, Janeuary, a distinguished artist known for her singing and diverse musical influences, proceeds to make her mark in the pop and electronic genre with her latest EP, "Earendel." Earendel, which includes a composition with the same title, was released on September 27, 2024. The song's title "Earendel" means "light" or "morning star" in Old English. It is the most distant star ever observed, at a distance of 12.9 billion light-years from Earth. The star is at least 50 times more massive than our Sun, perhaps 500 times, and millions of times brighter," says Janeuary. She has built a state of being held in high esteem for crafting music that seamlessly blends alternative pop, commercial pop, and electronic, appealing to a wide and growing audience. Earendel, with its deep emotional undercurrents and polished production, is a testament to his ability to fuse nostalgia with a modern twist.
The EP consists of 6 tracks: "Earendel," "Viens avec moi," "Part of me," "Close your eyes, "Heaven," and "Close your eyes—remix" featuring the Ukrainian musician Esolate. The EP was recorded in the electronic style and thus differs from the previous work of the artist and makes it a pleasant surprise from Janeuary. The album is filled with relaxing beats, atmospheric instruments, and, of course, magnetic velvet vocals.
On October 7, 2024, the Ukrainian singer and composer Janeuary released a new video work, "Earendel." The director of this non-trivial clip was the artist herself, together with Max Levchenko, with whom they have already created many bright works.
This time the viewer will be mesmerized by the Janeuary dance with two royal pythons in the atmosphere of noir Hollywood films. For many, this is on the edge of the extreme, on the edge of the possible. The team bravely overcame their fears and tried to make friends with unusual actors. But for Janeuary, who adores all animals, this friendship developed a long time ago and has already grown into real mutual love.
Janeuary's dedication to his craft shines through in each note, promising a sound that is both timeless and refreshing.
“Earendel” is more than just a catchy, mid-tempo track. With its blend of pop and electronic, the EP taps into the roots of electronic pop, providing listeners with a raw, authentic musical experience. There’s no autotune here, no polished edges, but just real instruments and honest vocals, which adds to its charm. The EP's down-to-earth, unfiltered sound is perfectly suited for fans of outlaw electronic and pop, creating a sonic landscape that complements its message of frustration and satire.
