"Rebel Hearts" by Clare Easdown: An Ode To Exploration Of One's Uniqueness

Hailing from Menai, a suburb in southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia, Clare Easdown, a talented vocalist and music producer makes waves in the music scene with her unique blend of Trap, Trip-Hop, and now, Post- Punk inspired sounds. With influences ranging from Grimes to Punk Rock icons like Bikini Kill and Fugazi, Clare's musical journey has taken her on a path of self-discovery and experimentation, culminating in her latest single release, "Rebel Hearts." In the bustling landscape of the Sydney music scene, where every note competes for attention, Clare Easdown shines as a beacon of artistry and authenticity, and their journey thus far has been one of exploration and expression, inviting listeners into their world with each verse and beat.

Having a prestigious talent, Clare Easdown recorded "Rebel Hearts" in her lounge suite in her humble home in Menai, Sydney Australia. She mixed and mastered the track by herself leaving it as raw as possible. Despite figuring out several mistakes and some issues with my timing and pitch, she decided to run with it and release it as it was. To further express the notion that musicians don't always have to release what they deem perfect and that it can be the imperfections that make a track interesting!

The message in "Rebel Hearts" is about being a complete misfit and being proud of doing so. It is about challenging what is expected of us in society. Turning what is expected of us upside down and then running with it in all its authenticity. "Rebel Hearts" was created to help provide people with a safe space to explore their unique sides and revel in what is considered abnormal or on the fringe. Being introduced to Political Punk, Post - Punk and Pop Punk was the main happening when creating "Rebel Hearts". Much like the track that breaks societal norms and expectations, Clare Easdown wanted to shock her audience by releasing a track that is so very far from my usual genre.

"An artist feels vulnerable, to begin with. and yet, the only answer is to recklessly discard more armour," said Clare. "Rebel Hearts" is a track that expresses that anybody can produce music or art and that it's not only for people with copious amounts of money or prestige. The track is for those who don't feel they fit in, or who feel as though they are fighting against what is expected of them. Clare created this track as a safe space for people to express themselves freely and not be afraid to be their authentic and obscure selves.
