Anti-Corn League

Based in Pittsburgh, United States, Anti-Corn League is a dynamic band led by Chris Kupchella, the guitarist, vocalist, and primary songwriter. Justin Gyurik on bass and Nicole Dawnee on drums complete the lineup. Their latest original single, "It Won't Stop," was mixed by Warren Pryde at Trinity Island Studio and mastered by David Klug. Drawing inspiration from bands like R.E.M., Nirvana, and the Velvet Underground, Anti-Corn League delivers a raw, gritty sound with simple chord progressions and poignant lyricism.

Released on April 18th, 2025, "It Won't Stop" from Anti-Corn League captures the essence of societal chaos and its impact on the human psyche. With relatable lyrics and infectious energy, this single resonates with listeners on a profound level. Recorded in their basement, the unique recording process included capturing guitar sounds in the shower for a distinctive echo effect. Anti-Corn League is set to perform live at various venues, including The Locust in Pittsburgh on May 1st, the Brass Factory in Bellfonte, PA on May 10th, and The Haven in Pittsburgh on May 24th. As the band aptly puts it, "Music should always be fun, just let the good times roll."

Right away, the energy of this song hits hard. There’s something wild and urgent in the guitar's crash in, and the rhythm section pushes forward, almost like the song is chasing you down the street. It’s loud, it’s messy in a good way, and it’s incredibly alive. You can tell this band poured their spirit into this track. The track tackles the nonstop chaos of modern life, the endless news cycle, the noise of social media and the pressure it all puts on our minds. The lyrics are simple and direct, but they stick with you. They match the sonic intensity perfectly, which makes the message hit even harder.

What distinguishes the track is how clean and professional it sounds, despite keeping that gritty garage vibe. The melodies here are surprisingly catchy, too. Even with all the distortion and drive, the song stays memorable, and that’s not easy to do with this kind of sound. The instrumentation is tight, rich, and messy enough to keep things exciting. One can hear the influence of their influencers reflected in the simple chord progressions, lyricism, and raw, gritty sound. This release stands out because of how relatable its simple lyrics are to any listener. It’s not hard to find the meaning in this song, and its energy easily moves you.
