Karen Salicath Jamali’s latest album, “Dreams of Angels”, is a spellbinding journey into ethereal realms, offering a deeply spiritual listening experience. Released on November 22, 2024, this 16-track masterpiece embodies the composer’s intuitive connection with angelic energies. Recorded in the tranquil early hours of the morning on an 80-year-old Steinway grand piano, each track was captured in a single take, preserving its raw, unfiltered essence. From the gentle embrace of “Angel Sandalphon (The Angel of Gentleness)” to the vibrant luminosity of “Angel Jophiel (Angel of Illumination),” the album transports listeners into a soundscape of celestial serenity.
The compositions in “Dreams of Angels” are profound reflections of their titular inspirations. The opening track, “ArchAngel Metatron (The Giver of Life),” exudes vitality, setting the tone for a meditative journey. Meanwhile, “Angel Gabriel (Giver of Water)” flows with liquid grace, mirroring the nurturing and restorative properties of its namesake. Karen’s minimalist approach allows the listener to connect deeply with each piece, immersing themselves in themes of courage, healing, and divine wisdom. The evocative “White Angel,” inspired by Karen’s sculpture dedicated to lost loved ones, is particularly moving, resonating with universal themes of love and remembrance.
Every note in the album was mastered with precision by PARMA Recordings, enhancing its intricate soundscapes while preserving the delicate nuances of Karen’s playing. Tracks like “Angel Michael (The Angel of Courage)” carry an uplifting intensity, while “Angel Ariel (The Angel of Nature)” emanates a grounding, earthly warmth. The seamless progression of the album feels like a spiritual ascent, each composition a step closer to divine understanding. Through its artistry, the album becomes not just a collection of songs but a transformative experience, inviting listeners to embrace the celestial energies Karen herself encountered.
Karen’s creative process is as extraordinary as the music itself. Her compositions are a product of pure intuition, channelling inspiration from her near-death experience in 2012, which awakened her gift for music. A celebrated visual artist for over 30 years, she turned to the piano as a means of healing, and within three years, she had composed thousands of pieces. Her remarkable journey culminated in performances at Carnegie Hall and a unique ability to compose directly from the heart. This raw authenticity is palpable throughout “Dreams of Angels,” making it a deeply personal and transcendent work.
“Dreams of Angels” is an invitation to pause, reflect, and connect with the divine. Karen Salicath Jamali’s ability to translate celestial energies into music is unparalleled, and this album is a testament to her artistry and spiritual insight. Whether you seek comfort, inspiration, or a moment of quiet contemplation, Dreams of Angels offers a timeless escape into a realm where music becomes a bridge to the heavens.
