'Click. Swipe. Buy by Splinter A Sonic Punch at Consumerism Fame, and Modern Culture

Get ready to feel the bite of the rat. With album artwork featuring visceral imagery of rats as symbols of societal decay, Splinter’s latest release embodies the gnawing effects of the unchecked, relentless cycle of overconsumption and ethical decline. London’s modern punk firebrand Splinter are igniting the airwaves with their explosive new album, ‘Click. Swipe. Buy.’, released in Spring 2025. Brimming with sharp satire, relentless energy, and raw, crunchy riffs, this release delivers a wake-up call to a generation consumed by screens, social media, and instant gratification.

‘Click. Swipe. Buy is an 8-track manifesto tackling themes of consumerism, cliché culture, arms dealing, and the pitfalls of modern dating. From the scathing takedown of rampant consumerism and data exploitation in the title track, ‘Click. Swipe. Buy.’, to the razor-sharp satire on corporate greed that sees us living in a world where money is more important than morality (‘Arms Race’), each track offers Splinter’s signature onslaught of machine-gun drums, thunderous basslines, and fearless lyricism paired with unrelenting social critique, as persistent as the rats that haunt the album’s artwork. Songs like ‘Modern Recipe’ lay bare the superficiality of online dating, while ‘Fruit Machine Scum’ tells the gritty story of a working-class figure grappling with trauma, anger issues, substance abuse, and addiction.

Lead single ‘Get A Job’ will be the first taste of the band’s ferocious commentary. A blistering critique of warped employment views, the track skewers the obsession with fame at any cost, while rejecting the disdain for hard, honest work. With biting vocals and rhythmic fury, Splinter reminds us that the perfect life doesn’t come gift-wrapped. “This album is a reflection of the absurdity we’re living through,” says singer Mark Marven. “From online shopping addictions to swipe-right romances, it’s all disposable. We wanted to hold up a mirror to society’s obsession with getting more, faster, cheaper and how that’s eroding something real inside us.”

Behind the scenes, ‘Click. Swipe. Buy.’ has been crafted with expertise from some of the industry’s finest. Engineering the album is Andy Hughes, ensuring every raw edge and jagged riff is captured in full force. Mixing duties were handled by Grammy-winning mixer, engineer, and record producer Caesar Edmunds, whose impressive roster includes work with Wet Leg, Ozzy Osbourne, Foals and Queens of the Stone Age – just a few among many others in his impressive roster. His dynamic touch amplifies the album’s punch, sharpening every chaotic element while maintaining a masterful balance. The final mastering was done by Katie Tavini, whose keen ear polished the record’s relentless energy into a finely tuned sonic assault.

Splinter formed in the gritty heart of London’s underground scene, where they earned a reputation for their explosive live performances and no-holds-barred lyrics. Stripped down to a raw trio of vocals, bass, and drums, the band delivers a lean, mean sound that’s as confrontational as it is addictive.
